To add new password entries, click on Edit > New > Password or use the Password button on the toolbar (Ctrl+Ins).
NOTE: If the desired entry type is not shown under Edit > New, it is possibly deactivated in the Database Properties and you can activate it there to be able to use it. To do so, click Database > Database Properties and go to the Entries tab. It shows a list of all entry types, where you can check or uncheck the corresponding checkbox of each entry type to activate or deactivate it. |
The new password will be saved in the currently opened folder (shown in the navigation area on the left-hand side).
In the dialog General, you can enter the following data (all entries apart from the description are optional):
Description: Enter a description for the new password. The description is the name that will be displayed in the password area window.
Change icon (button to the right of Description): To change the icon for a password, click on Change icon to the right of the description. If you left-click on the icon, the Select icon window opens. If you right-click on the icon, you can choose among three options: Select Icon (opens the Select icon window), Load from URL (using the standard icon of the URL you entered), and Reset Icon (resets to the standard password icon of Password Depot).
User: Enter the password's user name.
Password: Enter the password.
Show/Hide password (eye icon to the right): Changes whether the password is shown or hidden (and represented by dots).
Password generator: (gear wheel symbol to the right of the Password box): Opens the Password Generator for generating random passwords. Once you have generated your password, the Password field will be automatically completed with the newly generated password.
Quality: Shows how secure or weak your password is, and whether it contains any character strings similar or identical to dictionary entries. In addition, you will be shown how long it approximately takes to crack your password.
Category: Categories help you structure your passwords.
Importance: Select the level of importance for your password.
Expires: You can use this option if you want to be reminded about changing your password. You can either enter a date when the password will expire or click on the Extend button next to the date field to select how long the password will be valid.
Tags: Here, you can define tags for easy filtering of your entries.
Comments: Add any further comments to the new password.
Apart from the General tab, the following tabs are available:
Click OK to save changes, or Cancel to close the window without saving changes.
NOTE: In this dialog box, you may use the virtual keyboard. This feature is situated in the lower left-hand corner of the dialog box.
