Advanced Search

With Advanced Search, you can specify your search within the open database more precisely using various criteria. Unlike the simple search, numerous filter options are available here, allowing you to find the desired entries in a targeted manner, even in large databases.

You can open Advanced Search via one of the following options:

  • Menu: Search → Advanced Search
  • Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + F

This opens the Search Entries window, where you can define the search criteria.

TIP: To get more precise search results, use wildcards in the text fields. Wildcards are asterisks (*) or question marks (?). An asterisk matches any number of characters. A question mark matches a single arbitrary character.

Search Area

In the upper area of the window, you specify where the search should be performed:

  • Search in: Select whether the search should be performed in the entire database or in a specific folder.
  • Include sub-folders: Includes all sub-folders of the selected folder in the search.
  • With history: Includes the history of the entries (e.g. previous passwords) in the search.

Search Criteria

The following criteria are available to refine your search. You can combine any number of fields to narrow down the search specifically. All entered criteria are evaluated using an AND operation – meaning only entries that meet all the specified conditions simultaneously will be displayed. Empty fields are ignored during the search.

Example: If you enter "Server" under Description and "Banking" under Category, only entries whose description contains "Server" and which are also assigned to the "Banking" category will be found.

  • Description: Search by the name or title of the entry.
  • User name: Search by the user name stored in the entry.
  • Password: Search by the password stored in the entry.
  • URL: Search by the URL associated with the entry.
  • Other fields: Search in additional, custom fields of the entry.
  • Comments: Search in the notes or comments of the entry.
  • Tags: Search by the tags assigned to the entry.
  • Modified after/before: Restrict the search to entries that were last modified after or before a specific date.
  • Expired after/before: Restrict the search to entries whose expiry date is after or before a specific date.
  • Category: Restrict the search to entries of a specific category.
  • Importance: Restrict the search to entries with a specific importance level.
  • With attachments larger than (KB): Restrict the search to entries with attachments exceeding a specific size in kilobytes.
  • Entry type: Restrict the search to specific entry types. The following types are available:
    • Password
    • Credit Card
    • Software License
    • Identity
    • Information
    • Banking
    • Encrypted File
    • Document
    • Remote Desktop Connection
    • PuTTY
    • TeamViewer
    • Certificate
    • Custom
    • Passkey

Buttons

On the right-hand side of the window, the following buttons are available:

  • Start search: Starts the search based on the entered criteria. The results are displayed in the results list in the lower area.
  • New search: Resets the current entries and allows you to start a new search.
  • Close: Closes the window.

Results List

Below the search criteria, the found entries are displayed in a list. The following columns are available:

  • ! Displays the symbol of the entry or its status.
  • Description: Displays the name or title of the entry.
  • Modified: Shows the date of the last modification of the entry.
  • Expiry date: Shows the expiry date of the entry, if specified.

  • Path: Indicates the location of the entry within the database structure (e.g. folder hierarchy and database name).
  • Comments: Displays additional notes or comments for the entry, if available.
  • Tags: Displays the tags assigned to the entry, if available.

Using the results list, you can quickly see which entries match the entered search criteria. To work directly with one of the entries, right-click it and choose an action.
