Search Duplicates

This compact feature (Tools Search for duplicates) searches your database for duplicate entries. At the top of the dialog, the following instruction is displayed: Select one or more search criteria and click Find Duplicates.

Search Criteria

You can enable up to three fields as search criteria:

  • User name
  • Password
  • Default URL

At least one criterion must be selected for the search to be started.

While the user name can often be the same (e.g. because it represents your email address) and duplicate entries can also occur for the URL, the password must never be identical.

Operators

When you enable multiple criteria at the same time, you can combine the analysis. Two operators are available:

  • OR – Entries are recognized as duplicates if at least one of the selected fields matches.
  • AND – Entries are recognized as duplicates only if all selected fields match.

Click Find Duplicates to start the process. When the dialog is first opened, the search is automatically executed with the current criteria.

Results List

Note that the results are displayed grouped according to the previously selected fields and operator. The results list contains the following columns:

  • Description – Name of the entry.
  • Type – Type of the entry (e.g. password, credit card).
  • User name – The stored user name.
  • URL – The associated URL.
  • Created – Date the entry was created.
  • Expires – Expiration date of the entry.
  • Last Accessed – Date of the last access.
  • Frequency of Use – How often the entry has been used.
  • Attachments – Size of any attached files.

Context Menu

You can use the following functions by right-clicking in the results list:

  • Edit – Opens the selected entry for editing.
  • Delete – Moves the entry to the database's recycle bin (or deletes it for server databases).
  • Open URL – Opens the corresponding URL in the browser.
  • Select all – Selects all entries in the results list.

Export and Close

Click the Export button to export the list of duplicates found into an external CSV file (UTF-8, semicolon-separated) and save it to your local system. The button is only enabled when the results list contains entries.

Click Close to dismiss the dialog.
