Global Search

With Global Search, you can search for entries across all currently open databases at the same time. This makes it easier to find passwords and other entries without having to search each database individually.

You can open Global Search via

  • Search → Global Search

  • or using the keyboard shortcut Shift +Ctrl + F

A window will then appear with a search field at the top and a list of results at the bottom.

Search field

At the top of the dialog, you will find the Search field. Enter the text you want to search for here (for example, part of the description, user name, or URL) and start the search. Global Search scans all entries in all open databases that are available for searching.

Results list

In the lower area, the found entries are displayed in a list. The following columns are available:

  • Description: Displays the name or title of the entry.

  • Type: Indicates the entry type (e.g. password entry, protected text, credit card, etc.).

  • User name: Shows the user name stored for the entry.

  • URL: Displays the stored internet address, if the entry contains a URL.

  • Path: Indicates the location of the entry within the database structure (folder path).

Using the results list, you can quickly see in which database and at which location the desired entry is stored and open or further process it as needed.
