Licensing

How do I get new license keys for the upgrade to version 19?

Password Depot license keys and unlock codes are always issued for a specific main version. When moving to version 19, you therefore need a new delivery: your previous keys (e.g. for version 17 or 18) are not accepted by version 19.

Enterprise Server: new delivery as part of your software maintenance

  1. Check your software maintenance. Upgrades to a new main version are included in valid software maintenance. If your maintenance has expired, you can renew it retroactively or purchase an upgrade.

  2. Request a new delivery by email – no special form required. There is no self-service portal for retrieving new keys. Write to our sales or support team (info@password-depot.de) and include the details from your previous delivery (e.g. invoice number, the number of licensed users) so we can identify your license.

  3. Receive the delivery for version 19. Depending on your product package, it contains the server license key and the client license key or the license file (.lic file).

  4. Enter the server license key: in the Server Manager under Manage → Server License, field License to be installed (new unlock key).

  5. Perform the migration. Follow the step-by-step instructions (see Related topics). Important: the Enterprise Server and the Windows clients only work together on the same main version – always update the server and all clients at the same time.

Single-user license (Windows client without Enterprise Server)

For single-user licenses, the unlock code is issued per main version: all updates within your main version (e.g. from 19.0.4 to 19.2.1) work without a new code. To move to a new main version, order an upgrade; you will then receive a new unlock code for the current version. Enter it in the program under Help → Unlock using Step 2 – Unlock Password Depot.

Note: An upgrade is always optional. You can keep using your existing version for an unlimited time, regardless of your maintenance status.
