This article applies to version 11 and older. The activation server that the Password Depot Windows client used for online activation up to version 11 has been permanently shut down. Since version 12, Password Depot no longer sends any customer or other data to AceBIT for data protection reasons – not even during activation of the software. Online activation of version 11 or older is therefore permanently no longer possible; the failed activation is not an error in your installation.
Recommendation: upgrade to the current version
We strongly recommend upgrading to the current version (currently version 19), as numerous security-related improvements have been added since version 11. An overview of what's new and the ordering option can be found on our website:

Alternative: activation via a registry file
If you prefer to keep your older version, the client can now only be activated with a registry file:
Send an e-mail to info@password-depot.de and state your exact Password Depot version number.
You will then receive a download link or a registry file (ZIP archive) matching your version number.
Quit Password Depot if it is currently running.
Extract the ZIP archive and run the included .reg file by double-clicking it. Confirm adding the entries to the Windows registry.
Restart Password Depot. The program now runs as a full version.
Note: Password Depot license keys are each valid for one major version. If you switch to the current version later, you will need a license key for the new major version; you can continue using your existing databases.
