Password Depot Enterprise Server is an on-premises solution: you run it on a Windows machine of your own – in the local network, in a virtual machine, or in the cloud (e.g., Azure). Before purchasing, you can test both server and client free of charge and without obligation.
System requirements
Operating system: A Windows operating system is required. For production use, we recommend a Windows Server operating system; technically, the Enterprise Server runs on any Windows computer accessible in the network with a fixed IP address. As of version 14, the server is a 64-bit application.
Operating mode: We recommend installing the server as a Windows service. The service runs under the SYSTEM account and starts automatically with Windows, without requiring a user to be logged in.
Hardware: The basic requirements are low. As a rule of thumb for memory, allow roughly 20 KB of RAM per stored entry (in addition to the base footprint of the operating system and the service). For many users and large databases, a multi-core processor and an SSD are recommended.
Network: Open the default port 25019 (version 19; TCP and UDP, inbound and outbound) in your firewall, plus port 8714 for the REST API/web client. Available clients are the Windows client (it requires the same main version as the server) as well as macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and the web interface.
Testing free of charge
Download the installer: Always use the installation packages from the download area of our website. There is no separate trial installer – every installation is the full version, which is only unlocked by the license key.
Server without a license: Without a server license, the Enterprise Server runs permanently free of charge with up to 3 users; the super administrator account is not counted.
Windows client: After installation, the client runs as a full version for 30 days – sufficient for a complete trial setup.
Larger trial setups: If you need more users or more time, we can issue trial licenses on request; these can be extended if required. Please contact our sales team.
Quick test on one machine: To try things out, you can install server and client on the same computer and connect using the server address
127.0.0.1orlocalhost.
Note: The connecting Windows clients must be licensed even with the free 3-user variant. For a non-binding trial, therefore, combine the client's 30-day trial period with the license-free 3-user server.
