Secure and simple – that is the award winner Password Depot. The uncomplicated and intuitive user interface enables even beginners to store their passwords securely.
A password vault you can trust
-
Best‑possible encryption
In Password Depot, your information is not just encrypted once, but actually twice – using the AES‑256 algorithm. In the United States, this algorithm is approved for government documents classified as top secret.
-
Two‑factor authentication
Double your protection with our two‑factor authenticator. Start by choosing a master password that is required to open the file, and further increase security by using a key file for additional data protection.
-
Protection against brute‑force attacks
Brute‑force attacks are rendered practically impossible by an automatic three‑second delay after each incorrect master‑password attempt.
-
Backups
Password Depot automatically creates database backups that can be stored locally, on FTP servers (including SFTP) or on external drives. Adjust backup intervals according to your preferences.
Secure password usage
Protection against keylogging
Strong passwords are useless if they can be spied on. That is why all password fields in the application include built‑in protection against various types of keystroke interception (keylogging). This prevents your sensitive login data from being captured while you type.
Clean system memory
Our password manager leaves no traces in RAM when handling your passwords. Even an attacker with direct access to your PC who scans memory dumps will not be able to recover any passwords.
Protected clipboard
Password Depot protects your clipboard in several ways: it masks its changes in the clipboard, clears data it has filled into a website immediately afterwards, and detects clipboard viewers.
Virtual keyboard
With the virtual keyboard, which is displayed only on‑screen, you can enter passwords without touching your physical keyboard. Keystroke logging is impossible here, because no actual keystrokes are simulated – instead, an internal buffer is used.
Virtual mouse pointers
When typing on the virtual keyboard, you can enable multiple mouse pointers instead of the usual single pointer. This makes it even more difficult to track your cursor movements.

Validated passwords
-
Uncrackable passwords
The password generator creates virtually uncrackable passwords for you. Instead of using passwords such as "Mausi", which can be cracked in minutes, you will use something like "g\/:1bmVuz/z7ewß5T$x_sb}@i". Even state‑of‑the‑art computers would need many decades to guess such a password.
-
Verified password quality
Have the quality and security of your passwords checked. Intelligent algorithms analyze your passwords and warn you about "weak" passwords, which you can then replace using the password generator.
-
Password policies
You can define basic security policies that all passwords created or modified must comply with. For example, you can enforce a minimum password length and required character classes.
-
Security notifications
Password Depot includes notifications that continuously monitor your password security. For example, the application warns you when you use the insecure FTP protocol and recommends switching to SFTP instead.
-
Protection against dictionary attacks
An important warning in Password Depot is triggered by the use of insecure passwords – those that are very common, appear in hacker dictionaries and are therefore particularly easy to crack.
-
Password expiry alerts
Password Depot can alert you before passwords expire, such as the expiration date of your credit card. This keeps your access data up to date and valid at all times.
Versatile features
Cards, identities, licenses, documents and more
With Password Depot, you manage not only passwords, but also data for credit cards, debit cards, software licenses, identities, RDP, PuTTY and TeamViewer connections, documents or encrypted files. Dedicated templates are available for each of these data types.
File attachments
You can add file attachments to your password entries, for example to store additional information. These attachments can be opened directly in Password Depot and can also be saved to local storage.
Transfer passwords
You can import password entries from other password managers into Password Depot and also export entries from Password Depot. Special wizards are available to simplify both import and export.
Clean up databases
This feature helps you find passwords that you have not used for a long time or that have already expired. You can then remove the identified entries directly. This keeps your database up to date at all times.
Search password data
This function searches your database for a specified string – in passwords themselves or for example in their descriptions and URLs. For more precise results, you can use logical operators and relations.
Encrypt external files
Our password manager enables you to encrypt external files and store them directly as separate entries in your database. This makes confidential documents inaccessible to third parties.
Self‑extracting files
When encrypting external data with Password Depot, you can also create encrypted, self‑extracting files. This allows users without Password Depot to decrypt the data as well.
Delete external files
With Password Depot, you can delete external files regardless of their format. No traces remain on your hard drive, meaning the files cannot be restored by special recovery tools.
Convenient usability
-
User‑friendly interface
The Password Depot interface is similar to Windows Explorer. This enables efficient navigation in your databases and fast access to all passwords.
-
Automatic filling
If you wish, Password Depot can automatically fill in your credentials on websites in the most common browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge and Internet Explorer). This works via an internal function as well as via browser add‑ons.
-
Automatic detection
You can configure the application to automatically detect which password data belongs to a website you open and preselect the appropriate entry for you – and then, if required, automatically fill it in.
-
Top bar
Password Depot can be reduced to a slim top bar whose position you define yourself – either freely movable or docked to the edge of the screen (application desktop toolbar). This way, the software is always at hand while surfing the web, without getting in your way.
-
Open websites directly
URLs stored with password entries can be opened directly from within the application. This saves you from manually copying and pasting addresses into your browser.
-
Mouse‑click operation
Using your password data is as simple as clicking the mouse. With a single click, you can copy data to the clipboard or drag it directly into the target field on a website.
-
Hotkeys
Password Depot supports keyboard shortcuts for frequent commands in Windows ("hotkeys"). Using these hotkeys, you can quickly convert Password Depot into a top bar or bring it to the foreground from the system tray.
-
Unicode support
Password Depot supports Unicode, the international standard that assigns a digital code to each character. This allows you to use international characters such as "ä" or "ç" in your password data.
-
Recycle bin
A recycle bin stores deleted password data and allows restoration. This ensures that data you removed by accident is not lost permanently.
Individual settings
Configurable application options
Thanks to numerous options, our password manager can be configured in detail – not only in terms of the visual layout, but also with regard to internal functions such as browser and network usage.
Custom browsers
You decide which browsers you want to use with the application. You are not limited to common browsers like Firefox or Edge – you can also work with Opera, for example.
Tailored user modes
As a new user, you can work with a reduced set of features in beginner mode, while experts can use the full feature set in expert mode – or define their own custom mode.
Personal favorites
This function searches your database for a specified string – in passwords themselves or for example in their descriptions and URLs. For more precise results, you can use logical operators and relations.
Custom fields
You can extend the existing data fields with any number of self‑defined fields. This is possible both for an individual password entry ("Custom fields") and for the entire database ("Global fields").
Password icons
Assign icons to your passwords to find and categorize them more easily. These icons remain available even when you open your password file on another PC, as they are stored inside the password file itself.
Custom alerts
You can decide which alerts Password Depot should show and which it should suppress. You also define whether the application should warn you before a password expires and, if so, how many days in advance.
Password usage statistics
Clear statistics show at a glance how often you have used each password. This also reveals entries you never use and could delete to keep your database lean and current.
Flexible interaction
-
Enterprise Server
Password Depot comes with a powerful module, the Enterprise Server. It enables multiple users to work with databases simultaneously. Access to the databases can be granted both via a local network and over the internet.
-
Smartphone apps
Use your databases on all your devices at the same time: powerful native apps are available for your Windows, iOS, macOS and Android devices – and even as a web interface.
-
USB stick
Prefer a more traditional approach? No problem. You can store your databases together with Password Depot directly on a USB stick. This way, you always carry both the file and the software with you and can use them anywhere.
-
Cloud storage locations
Password Depot supports practically all file‑hosting services, such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or HiDrive. Via the WebDAV protocol you can add almost any additional service. This allows you to store your data optionally with the provider of your choice.
